67.5.3 Displaying or hiding individual component vectors

When free body cuts are configured to display individual component vectors in the 1-, 2-, or 3-directions instead of the resultant vector, you can display or hide each of these individual component vectors. These settings are available independently for force vectors and moment vectors; for example, you can hide component vectors for forces in the 3-direction but display component vectors for moments in the same direction.

Toggling the display of individual component vectors does not change the resultant vector display. Resultant vectors are still displayed using all three components.

To customize vector display by component:

  1. Locate the Color & Style options.

Select OptionsFree Body from the main menu bar in the Visualization module, and click the Color & Style tab in the dialog box that appears.

  2. Click the Force tab or the Moment tab to display or hide individual component vectors for force vectors or moment vectors, respectively. The Components options appear in the middle of the page.

  3. Toggle on the 1, 2, or 3 options to include the selected component in vector display.

  4. Click OK to implement your changes and to close the Free Body Plot Options dialog box.

By default, your changes are saved for the duration of the session and will affect all subsequent free body cuts plots in that viewport. If you want to retain your changes for subsequent sessions, save them to a file. For more information, see Saving customizations for use in subsequent sessions, Section 55.1.1.
