54.3.4 Selecting options and thresholds for free body cut reports

You can create a tabular report of the resultant forces and moments in all active free body cuts in your session. You can activate or suppress individual free body cuts by toggling their Show check boxes in the Free Body Cut Manager; for more information, see Displaying, hiding, and highlighting free body cuts, Section 67.4. Abaqus/CAE reports resultant force and moment data with respect to the global coordinate system, regardless of the settings selected in the Component Resolution options for free body cuts or for view cuts.

You can generate reports for the current frame or for multiple frames. You can also specify custom threshold values for force data and moment data in the report; forces and moments smaller than these thresholds are reported as zero in the report. Selecting appropriate thresholds enables you to produce cleaner report data; for example, replacing small report values such as 1.234E-17 with 0 makes report data easier to read. The default threshold for both force and moment values is 1E-006.

To select options and thresholds for free body cut reports:

  1. Locate the options for free body cut reports.

From the main menu bar, select ReportFree Body Cut.

  2. Choose the frames from which Abaqus/CAE reads free body cut data.

  3. From the File options, specify the report file name. For specific instructions, see Specifying your report file name, Section 54.4.

  4. From the Output Format options, specify the presentation format for the report data. For specific instructions, see Controlling report layout, width, format, and coordinate system, Section 54.5.

  5. If desired, specify a threshold value for forces and a threshold value for moments from the Thresholds options. Abaqus/CAE will report force and moment values smaller than these thresholds as zero.

To generate your report, click Apply. When you have finished, click Cancel to close the dialog box.
