47.7.2 Customizing the border and fill color for an X–Y plot

Click the Grid Display tab to access the Grid Area options for an X–Y plot. These options enable you to customize the grid in an X–Y plot, which is the rectangular area where the curves are plotted. You can wrap a border around the grid or fill the grid with a background color.

Note:  You can also control border and background color settings for the entire X–Y plot, which includes the portion of the viewport covered by an X–Y plot's grid and all of its axes. Abaqus/CAE displays the background color for the grid on top of the background for the entire X–Y plot. For more information, see Customizing border and fill colors for an X–Y plot, Section 47.10.

To customize the border and fill color for an X–Y plot:

  1. Locate the Grid Area options.

    Select OptionsXY OptionsChart; or click , which is located with the X–Y plotting tools in the Visualization module toolbox. Click the Grid Display tab in the dialog box that appears.

    The Grid Area options are available at the bottom of the Grid Display page.

  2. Select one or more X–Y plots from the top part of the window.

  3. Toggle on Show border to display a border around the entire grid area.

  4. If desired, change the color of the border by performing the following steps:

    1. Click the color sample immediately to the right of the Show border label .

      Abaqus/CAE displays the Select Color dialog box.

    2. Use one of the methods in the Select Color dialog box to select a new color. For more information, see Customizing colors, Section 3.2.9.

    3. Click OK to close the Select Color dialog box.

      The color sample and the grid border change to the selected color.

  5. Toggle on Fill to fill the grid area with the color displayed to the right of the Fill label.

  6. If desired, change the grid area fill color by performing the following steps:

    1. Click the color sample immediately to the right of the Fill label .

      Abaqus/CAE displays the Select Color dialog box.

    2. Use one of the methods in the Select Color dialog box to select a new color. For more information, see Customizing colors, Section 3.2.9.

    3. Click OK to close the Select Color dialog box.

      The grid area changes to the selected color.

  7. Click Dismiss to close the Chart Options dialog box.
