You can restart an optimization process that has failed for a reason external to the optimization. To continue the optimization process, select OptimizationRestartoptimization process name. You can also continue the optimization process by selecting the optimization process name in the Optimization Process Manager and clicking Restart.

You can restart an optimization process only if it has failed because of a problem external to the optimization or the Abaqus analysis, such as:

• A license was not available.

• The Abaqus analysis failed due to insufficient disk space or memory.

• The user terminated the Abaqus analysis job by clicking the Kill button from the job monitor.

If the optimization fails due to errors in your Abaqus model, performing a restart will not allow it to continue. For example, if Abaqus stops because of excessively distorted elements, the same problem will occur after you attempt to restart the optimization. Before you restart the process, you can use the optimization process editor to change the optimization task and the model referred to by the optimization process. In addition, you can change the maximum number of optimization design cycles that are allowed before Abaqus ends the optimization process.

The optimization always restarts with an Abaqus analysis using the model that was most recently modified.
