The solver controls editor allows you to modify the parameters that control the iterative linear equation solver. For more information, see “Iterative linear equation solver,” Section 6.1.6 of the Abaqus Analysis User's Guide.
Note: Solver controls are available only for Static, General; Static, Linear perturbation; Visco; Heat transfer; Geostatic; and Soils analysis steps.
To customize general solver controls:
From the main menu bar, select OtherSolver ControlsManager.
Abaqus/CAE displays the Solver Controls Manager showing the steps defined in the model and the solver controls associated with each step.
In the Solver Controls Manager, select the analysis step of interest, and click Edit.
The Edit Solver Controls dialog box appears.
Choose how you want to specify the solver controls:
Choose Propagate from previous step if you want the solver controls settings from the previous step to remain active in the current step.
Choose Reset all parameters to their system-defined defaults if you want all of the parameters in the editor to revert to their default values.
Choose Specify if you want to enter new values for particular parameters in this step.
Enter the data necessary to specify the customized solver controls:
In the Relative tolerance field, enter a value for the relative tolerance of convergence.
In the Max. number of iterations field, enter a value for the maximum number of linear solver iterations.
In the ILU factorization fill-in level field, enter a value for the incomplete LU factorization fill-in level (0 ≤ level ≤ 3). This setting is applicable only for Geostatic and Soils analysis steps.
Click OK to save your customized settings and to close the editor.
