7.5 Choosing a translucency mode

The translucency mode controls the speed and accuracy with which Abaqus/CAE displays translucent objects in the viewport. The effect of changing the translucency mode is most apparent when you use the view manipulation tools to manipulate the display of the model. The Fast setting provides the best graphics performance, while the Accurate setting provides the best rendering of translucent objects.

In most circumstances you should not have to change the default translucency method setting. When you start a session, Abaqus/CAE detects the graphics hardware installed in your system and selects the appropriate translucency mode. However, if you are using a less capable graphics adapter, the default setting selected by Abaqus/CAE may not be optimal for your models.

To control the translucency mode:

  1. Locate the translucency mode options.

From the main menu bar, select ViewGraphics Options.

Abaqus/CAE displays the Graphics Options dialog box.

  2. Drag the Translucency mode slider to the setting that you want. For some graphics cards, Abaqus/CAE supports three intermediate translucency mode settings between Fast and Accurate; for others, Abaqus/CAE supports only one intermediate setting between these two options.

  3. Click OK to implement your changes and to close the dialog box.

Your changes are saved for the duration of the session.
